Vegetable & Horticulture Specialist
About the Role
SelfCrops works with vegetable growers across Tirupati's peri-urban and rural areas. We need a Horticulture Specialist to provide crop advisory, quality management, and market linkage for our vegetable farmer network. Key Responsibilities: • Provide crop-specific advisory for tomato, brinjal, leafy greens, gourds, and capsicum • Guide farmers on protected cultivation — polyhouses, shade nets, and drip irrigation • Implement post-harvest management practices — grading, packaging, cold chain handling • Coordinate with buyers (mandis, retail chains, restaurant aggregators) on quality specifications • Conduct crop health monitoring and respond to quality complaints from buyers • Develop cropping calendars aligned with market demand and price seasonality
Requirements
• B.Sc/M.Sc Horticulture or Agriculture with vegetable specialisation • 2–5 years in vegetable extension services, agri-supply chain, or buyer-facing quality roles • Understanding of Andhra Pradesh vegetable market — APMC, direct procurement, export • Hands-on with protected cultivation and post-harvest technology • Strong Telugu communication and ability to build farmer trust
