Precision Agriculture Specialist
About the Role
SelfCrops is seeking a Precision Agriculture Specialist to develop and implement site-specific crop management strategies using technology — drones, soil maps, variable rate application, and GPS-guided machinery. Key Responsibilities: • Design variable rate fertilizer and pesticide application programmes based on soil maps • Operate and analyse drone imagery for canopy health, stress mapping, and weed detection • Implement GPS-guided field operations and automate planting/harvesting guidance • Create prescription maps for seed rate, fertilizer, and irrigation zones • Train farmers and field agents on precision agriculture tools • Analyse cost vs benefit of technology adoption and prepare ROI reports
Requirements
• B.Sc/M.Sc Agriculture Engineering or Agronomy with precision ag certification • 3–6 years in precision agriculture, farm management, or agri-tech • Hands-on drone piloting certification (DGCA approved preferred) • Proficiency in ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar GIS platforms • Experience with Trimble, John Deere, or similar precision ag systems
